Ekol Clarity 5 - 5kW, DEFRA Approved, Multi-fuel stove

Ekol clarity 5 install with a 125mm Schiedel liner (9 metres) into an existing fireplace with marble surround.

This job was a tricky one, the fireplace you can see in the picture had an electric fire inside that the customer wanted to replace with a wood burner. Electric fires are extremely expensive to run compared to a wood burner and as far as we are concerned, don't look as nice either.

The flue ran straight up from this for a metre before sharply bending to the left for two metres and then another sharp bend straight up to the independent stack. Unfortunately this one required scaffolding, not only because the stack was somewhat inaccessible but due to the two sharp bends there would be a lot of movement needed on the roof to get the liner down. 

We only had to make one small 300mm x 300mm hole that broke into the chimney to get the liner down which was much less than we expected (hurrah for 5" liners!). 

We had measured the recess opening and the only stove that put out decent enough heat for the room and fit snug was the Ekol Clarity 5. As you can see from the picture it definitely is snug! It was a fight to get it in whilst carefully trying to keep the stove from catching the surround but nothing is too hard for us at Cinder & Smoke. It ended up being a normally priced install with the only extra being for the adjustable joint we had to use above the closure plate. 

Besides the complications it ended up being a fantastic looking installation!
